During my internship at Prometheus as a Software Engineer, I had the opportunity to contribute to the development of the JCI Regatta Iloilo website. My role in this project involved both technical and leadership responsibilities.
Initially, I was tasked with conducting extensive testing to determine the most suitable framework for the website. I worked closely with the Senior Software Engineer, experimenting with different frameworks, including Next.js. After a thorough evaluation, we concluded that Astro.js, a modern JavaScript framework, was the best fit for the project due to its optimized performance and seamless user experience.
In addition to the technical aspects, I was also assigned to lead a team of fellow interns throughout the website’s development. As the team leader, I ensured that each team member focused on their assigned tasks, avoided overlapping work, and adhered to project timelines. I was responsible for checking in with each intern, guiding them through challenges, and managing the workflow to maintain efficiency.
Throughout the project, I regularly reported our progress to the Senior Software Engineer, providing updates on milestones and ensuring that the project met the company's quality standards. This experience enhanced my leadership abilities and strengthened my technical expertise in web development, especially in working with modern JavaScript frameworks.
